g-tech pro

I did a couple of runs yesterday morning
with the g-tech pro.My best run so far is a 14.9. Now this is without any tuning,stock tires and full interior.I think this is great tuning device and is pretty accurate.
What do you guys think about this product?

another great way to use it to tune is with the horsepower function. it won't give you a comparable number to a dyno due to wheelspin and wind, but you can get an idea of what changes to your various settings do to the power. enter the weight of the car. find a safe, flat, and SAFE road. start the HP function. DON'T launch. just accelerate nice and slow. pick a speed, say 30mph in 2nd gear, cruise at it, and then floor it. watch the readout.

change settings on your mods, and try again! this method removes the vagaries of the launch from your measurements. your 0-60 times, for example, will vary by as much as a second depending on your launch. simply flooring it in gear at a fairly low speed removes the driver factor.

the best i've run on the gtech is 0-60 in 5.8 and the 1/4 in 13.8. i doubt i'll be able to pull that time at the track, but who knows!

I have had one for a year and a half. Its pretty good for the money. Kind of a home dyno if you will.

When you do a baseline run do like Schweet said and don't launch. But one thing he left out was consistency. Do about 10 runs for each new change or part. 5 in each direction using the same gear, and same stretch of road every time. Then take the average. Make sure your car weighs as much as the factory says it does. My integra actually weighs 2692lbs with a 20lbs sub and 1/4 tank of gas compared to the factory 2650lbs.

Next you have to adjust for temperature, altitude and humidity. Turn on the weather channel and get the current conditions

Every 10 degrees is 1% power change (warmer=less)
Every 10% Humidity is 1% power change (more=less)
Every 270ft of elevation is 1% power change

All of these things add up. And it still only gives you peak.

It seems to work as advertised but the problem I have with it is trying to find both flat and barren roads (and not attract notice from the cops, or a pissed off farmer, [from racing up and down his road several times]) Or the fact that the first really decent places to use it are 25-30 miles away.

You can take it to the dragstrip -- but then you don't really need it there.

Blown ls: What are your mods? Your car
is hella fast for an ls with only 5psi.
Did you time it at the track or with
the g-tech? I think the fastest guy in
here with an ls is zach. Who ran i think
was a 14.7.
